Aromatherapy
involves using THERAPEUTIC GRADE oils to bring about a shift in well-being. It has been called "Vibrational Pharmacology". Why oils? Oils also carry vibrational frequencies within them. As we have
discussed on other pages, bringing the body into vibrational harmony is the goal. Oils have been used for over 4000 years
in many medical and religious venues. The early physicians used essential oils as anesthetics and antibiotics. Priests and
Priestesses used oils in religious ceremony. Therapists use oils to relax or invigorate the body, mind and spirit. Studies
are being conducted of the antiviral, antibiotic, antifungal, antitumoral properties all over
the world on the healing properties of oils and are showing great promise. Scientists have been studying plants and their healing qualities for decades. When they discover
the healing property in the plant, they try to reproduce it chemically and that is where our modern day pharmaceuticals come
from. It is cheaper, more efficient and can be more potent than the oils. However, with the chemicals typically
also come many side effects. Our body is not designed for these foreign substances. The oils from the plants however can be
utilized without side effects. Why therapeutic grade oils? There are many factors that go into producing
an oil. The soil, pesticide use, how and when the plants are harvested, how the oil is extracted and processed. Therapeutic
grade oils are processed by steam distillation for a duration very specific to each plant. They are organic and harvested
at the plant's peak growth. There is definitely a science to this. Picked too early or too late, using too high a heat, too
short or long a distillation time and the therapeutic effects are significantly diminished. Nontherapeutic grade oils are usually processed by chemicals (which is why people say they are allergic to some
oils).Although the chemicals are filtered out, there can still be large amounts of chemicals still in the oils. They are also
typically extended with other substances making the essential oil go further. These oils should never be put on your skin
undiluted or ingested. They may smell OK, but their therapeutic value is lost in the processing. This is why some people
claim oils don't work. They most likely have been using the lesser quality oils that smell nice but that's about it. An oil
can say "Pure" or "Organic", but unless you are using it for potpuree, get the therapeutic grade. WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING Different oils have different properties. For instance,
while legally we cannot say that an oil is an anticoagulant, some oils may have an anticoagulant effect
so if you are taking blood thinners, that oil is not for you. Some may need to be diluted on the skin and some are photosensitive. In
France you need a prescription in order to use oils. Oils are safe if used in the proper mannor. Please be sure to check
with a knowledgable healthcare provider before using any oils. Having done research on several companies, I have found Young
Living Oils to be of the highest quality and therefore decided to become a distributor. You can contact me about purchasing
any of these high quality oils. Other recommended companies that also have high quality
oils are: JuliaRose
Botanicals Integrative Aromatherapy Green Valley Aromatherapy
I'm sure there are other sites out there, just be sure that they are therapeutic grade.
